Denver Zoo Giraffe Shade Structure
Commercial Specialty Construction
One of our most complex construction and more innovative projects was a giraffe shade structure for the Denver Zoo. This structure was designed to help gain some shade for the animals, while the design intent was to be abstract and non-uniform to mimic the elements of a natural tree. The challenge included keeping the structure strong and durable, while presenting no harm or danger to animals. The main support was three fir trees bound together at the top in a pyramid shape and a fabric and steel frame awning which would provide the shade. We feel this construction project will span the test of time and be an icon for the Denver Zoo for many years to come.
